Jet-setters that we are (in spirit!), it seems fitting that it’s been a week for international compilation news. This one hails from Japan (via our label there, Rambling Records), and they have included our electro-swing tune ‘Venus in Hollywood’ on a new release titled ‘Swingin’ Gold – Tribute To The Great Gatsby.’ It’s just been made available on iTunes Japan (for those of you with access to that – if you want our track alone it’s internationally on iTunes here). For old-school CD lovers we’ve been informed that there will be a full CD release coming in the Autumn. Regardless of what you thought of Baz Luhrmann‘s film (looked amazing – waaaaay too long?), there’s no doubt that the 1920′s style it depicted still packs an absolute punch. We love to imagine Daisy and Jay doing the charleston to “Venus…”. And we’re also pretty thrilled with the fact it’s a nice mix of old and new artists and that our favourites Ella, Eartha and Louis are included – you could say that Sweet Tooth are dancing with the stars on this one

oh darlin’
I’ve not posted about our new video for a while – humble apologies to those looking forward to seeing it. Exciting things are afoot in the land of Sweet Tooth, so we’ll have to keep our pretty cards close to our chest for just a little while longer…
In the meantime, I want to cheekily pique your interest (“a tease? Who… me?”) by sharing with you the newest work by Maximilla (one half of the Belles who filmed ‘Venus’).
This “Darlin’” short fashion film, made in collaboration with Lula Magazine’s Leith Clark (as if you couldn’t tell), showcases Orla Kiely‘s Spring 2013 collection, which Kiely states was inspired by “Palm Springs, Slim Aarons, summer resorts from the 1960s, and the pool culture of that time period.”
it’s an office, but not as we know it.

This is too fabulous not to share.
My talented friend Sarah Sophie Flicker (one of the director duo who produced our forthcoming video) showcasing her style, work-space and trapeze skills in the New York Times:
Very soon you’ll get to see her swinging from a ‘Venus’ star – the video’s coming asap :)
attack of the 50 foot woman!

would you like to swing on a star?

… carry moon-beams home in a jar?
Would you believe that this hastily snapped iPhone pic is the only shot I managed to take myself at the ‘Venus In Hollywood’ video shoot in New York last week?
It shows the crew only just getting started on the first set, but it gives you a little glimpse (before I was whisked off into hair & makeup and didn’t pick up my phone for another 12 hours!).
I can’t look at it without singing this lovely tune (because, yes – they are trapeze hoops being hung, in case you’re wondering!).

venus in… new york.
Further to my recent post re ‘Venus In Hollywood,’ we have some very pleasing news.
At the end of the month I’ll be heading to NYC to shoot a video for the track. It will be directed by Maximilla Lukacs & Sarah Sophie Flicker, who together make up the wonderful Belles of the Black Diamond Field.
The creative treatment they’ve provided is shaping up to brilliant so I couldn’t be more excited.
I’ll let you see their work for yourself – this film was made as a collaboration between Top Shop and my favourite magazine in the world, Lula (of which Sarah Sophie is ‘editor at large’ – a fabulous title if there ever was one).

See more of their work for music and fashion (including ethereal videos for Karen Elson and First Aid Kit) here.
Their aesthetic couldn’t be more appropriate for Sweet Tooth, don’t you agree?
