Shoobidoowah

Jet-setters that we are (in spirit!), it seems fitting that it’s been a week for international compilation news. This one hails from Japan (via our label there, Rambling Records), and they have included our electro-swing tune ‘Venus in Hollywood’ on a new release titled ‘Swingin’ Gold – Tribute To The Great Gatsby.’

It’s just been made available on iTunes Japan (for those of you with access to that – if you want our track alone it’s internationally on iTunes here). For old-school CD lovers we’ve been informed that there will be a full CD release coming in the Autumn.

Regardless of what you thought of Baz Luhrmann‘s film (looked amazing – waaaaay too long?), there’s no doubt that the 1920′s style it depicted still packs an absolute punch. We love to imagine Daisy and Jay doing the charleston to “Venus…”.  And we’re also pretty thrilled with the fact it’s a nice mix of old and new artists and that our favourites Ella, Eartha and Louis are included – you could say that Sweet Tooth are dancing with the stars on this one ;)

Tracklist:
1 St. James Ballroom (Sepalot Remix) – Alice Francis
2 Venus In Hollywood – Sweet Tooth
3 Bad Boy Good Man (Aerophon Mix) – Tape Five
4 Happy Feet – Buscemi
5 Woody Woody – Dimie Cat
6 Hit’em With It High (Alternate Version) – Boogaloo Stu
7 Tangled Up – Caro Emerald
8 AAA (Triple A) – Dimie Cat
9 Shoot Him Down! – Alice Francis
10 Pink Lullaby – Tape Five
11 Big Spender – The New Burlesque Roadshow
12 The Big Blow Out – Henry Mancini
13 Caravan – Ella Fitzgerald
14 Beale Street Blues – Eartha Kitt
15 Sugar – Dirty Honkers
16 Tail Feather (feat. Youthstar & Erica Guaca) – Smokey Joe & The Kid
17 Puttin’ On The Ritz (Club Des Belugas Remix) – Club des Belugas
18 Sway – The Jazz Age Swingers
19 Hidden – Buscemi & The Michel Bisceglia Ensemble
20 What A Wonderful World [Club Mix] – Louis Armstrong

‘Shoobidoowah’ indeed.

Introducing Bart & Baker

We love reinvention, using elements that already exist like vintage music, performance styles and costume so we are able to please or uncover a love of swing with both vintage fans and modern kids. We’ve always been huge fans of London and it’s cutting edge club culture so to be accepted and given such support from so many people has just amazed us. We work with electro swing clubs, vintage themed burlesque clubs, the best of your festivals and it’s thanks to all our UK fans and collaborators for making our journey so exciting so far.” Bart

We are pleased to announce that our friends Bart & Baker have included our collaboration with them on their debut album ‘Introducing Bart & Baker.’  The track ‘Bee Zoo’ is a little moment of kitsch that we hope fits in perfectly with their signature electro swing tunes.

If you’re in London and fancy checking out the cut of their jib, you can see them at The Electro Swing Club at Book Club on Sat 20th April. With lots of other DJ talent and some live performances, this is an internationally famous club night with a unique fusion of Paris/London Swing.

Those closer to Paris will find that Bart&Baker have their own monthly residency at the world-famed Parisian club La Machine du MOULIN ROUGE. See more about the vintage loving duo on their website.

News item from My Music here (for the Polish speakers amongst you!).
This times nicely with the release of another track from our collaborations project, a dance-floor friendly fidget house remix of ‘Venus’ by Paris-based producer 6u5. This cute video below is a mash-up of burlesque visuals to accompany the remix, painstakingly edited by Deadbug Films (see more of their work on YouTube ‪‬ and Vimeo).
The remix is available as a single via iTunes here. It’s also been included on Wagram Digital’s ‘Electro Swing IV’ compilation by French DJs Bart and Baker, on iTunes and Amazon. And it’s soon to be on their forthcoming release ‘Spirit Of Electro Swing’ (outMarch 19th, 2012).
“Shoobeedoowah” indeed… ♫
